Road to gs1 Rwanda

Let's build GS1 Rwanda together

Let’s build GS1 Rwanda together

Where do you get barcodes, how do you apply them, how to make your processes thus more efficient and how to enhance your business relations by doing so? Wouldn’t it be awesome if all of this knowledge would be easily accessible right out of Rwanda? Short distances, direct support, exchange of thoughts with a like-minded community, formation of opinions to address Rwandan business needs – all this is the prospect for a GS1 Rwanda to become a center for training, capacity building and innovative, efficient business processes. And the best: You could be provided with barcodes for your products directly from an organization in Rwanda.

Rwandan entrepreneurs will thus have it easier to participate in the global value chain and thus strengthen trade. GS1 is not a company to be established, but a global organization. To establish your own GS1 organization, different stakeholders need to come together as a community and jointly submit an application to GS1 Global. To ensure that this is successful, we are at your side as a project team and with our experts from GS1 Germany to support you throughout the entire process.

To achieve our goal, we are holding several workshops and community breakfasts so that you, as entrepreneurs, can gather information and organize together. The workshop is planned for November. All IT entrepreneurs, retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and producers are invited to participate. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact us anytime.

WHAT'S IN FOR ME

  • GS1 standards are the most widely used system of standards in the world.
  • By enabling the sharing of trusted quality data everywhere, they tell the story behind products—where they originated, what they contain and where they have been during their supply-chain journey. This, in turn, removes friction between business partners and improves performance and safety across the entire supply chain.
  • GS1 standards are absolutely necessary if a producer wants to reach the “normal” consumer in supermarkets - instead of niche economies like “One World Shops”.
  • Building up a community of manufacturers, logistics and retailers who regularly exchange ideas to find solutions to their problems, establish contacts and think up innovations.
  • Bringing Rwandan businesses a higher margin by building an economic community.
  • Making Rwandan products more visible.

GS1 Solutions

Only the interaction of GS1 standards such as GTIN and barcode makes it possible to control business processes across company boundaries. GS1 Solutions are certain application areas of GS1 that are often cross-industry and cross-standard. They may vary from Member Organisation to Member Organisation.
